Sirius watched the sunset regretfully, sitting atop his roof at Grimmauld Place. The fading rays haloed his face, a stark contrast to his eyes, which mirrored the dimming light of the sun.

Loss of faith, loss of pride, loss of friendship, and cold eyes that blazed with hidden resentment, pierced through him and into his empty soul. A whispered 'no' lingered in his ears, repeated like a broken mantra.

Sirius couldn't understand why, as moisture trickled down his cheek, after everything he and Remus had been through, that a stem of hope still grew within his heart, waiting to bloom.
